Volunteering is one of the things I enjoy the most here in Iowa City. I get the chance to know the American culture better. I do not go out often so the only reason to go out and embrace the people is by volunteering. It is not just that, I learn many things and get to contribute to the society at the same time. There was a time I volunteered at Wild Bill Cafe, located in the Social Work Building. The staff is a disabled person, and I helped with the cleaning, and sat and talked with them to create that lively environment. Currently, volunteering at the public library, checking in books with a lovely lady. Learned a lot too from the conversation I have with her throughout our time in the library. I would totally recommend for you to volunteer. It can be anywhere, you can help with the food pantry, tutoring, taking care of animals, big events, almost anything. All the satisfactions are worth your time and energy.
